DreamCatchers  Ride

DreamCatchers provides a safe place where, through learning about equine companionship and care, people can be comfortable and able to express themselves.

About DreamCatchers

DreamCatchers Ride, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit mentoring program in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Founded in November, 2018, DreamCatchers uses horses to help youth in our community by providing the opportunity to develop a relationship with a horse, learning the basics of caring for something much larger and stronger, and developing an emotional connection.

Developing a relationship with a horse teaches youth important life skills of communication, self-advocacy, dealing with fear and anxiety, finding their voice, enhancing social relationships, and fostering feelings of independence.

Working with horses teaches anticipatory response, restores and enhances self-image and confidence, improves balance / builds muscle strength and creates ambassadors of nature.

Services

Youth Participants

Youth from ages 5-18 are invited to DreamCatchers.  The level of experience is left to the youth, with some gentle encouragement to step outside of their comfort zones. Youth will learn to halter and lead horses safely, how to behave safely around horses, learn grooming techniques, and be given the opportunity to learn the basics of Western riding.

Youth who wish to expand their experience are invited to join Capital City Horse and Pony Club and participate in open shows with DreamCatchers staff as their coach and mentor.

There is no charge for youth participants, however, tax-deductible donations are graciously accepted.

Adult Participants

Those 18 and older are invited to DreamCatchers.  The level of experience is left to the participant, with some gentle encouragement to step outside of their comfort zones. Adults may choose to simply spend time meeting, petting and grooming our horses, or participate in any of the activities listed for youth.

We are developing an adult learning program, offering a combination of classroom and hands-on learning. Check back here for details in the near future.

The cost of a basic adult program is a $25 per person tax-deductible donation
